Tell us more about you: Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is the operator of Cochin International Airport, Kochi, and is a pioneer in India’s aviation sector as the first airport in India developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. CIAL is also globally recognised for its commitment to sustainable aviation, having become the world’s first airport to be fully powered by solar energy. Cochin International Airport is one of India’s leading international gateways and a key aviation and cargo hub serving Kerala and South India. CIAL’s Air Cargo Complex handles international and domestic cargo and supports a diverse range of commodities, including perishables, pharmaceuticals, seafood, fresh produce, engineering goods, e-commerce, courier and other time-sensitive shipments. CIAL also has an Animal Quarantine and Certification Services (AQCS) facility, making Cochin International Airport the seventh airport in India with facilities for the import and handling of pets, providing an important gateway for international pet movements. With strong international connectivity, particularly to the Middle East and major global hubs, Kochi provides access to an extensive network of international destinations through scheduled passenger services and dedicated freighter operations. A major strategic advantage of CIAL is its potential to support multimodal logistics operations integrating air, sea, road and rail connectivity. Cochin Port, including the DP World-operated International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam, is approximately 25 km from the airport, providing opportunities for efficient sea-air and air-sea cargo movements. The Vizhinjam International Seaport, a major transshipment hub, is approximately 220 km from CIAL, further strengthening opportunities for integrated sea-air logistics. The airport also benefits from excellent highway connectivity and proximity to the railway network, offering future potential for integrating air cargo with rail-based freight movement. This strategic location enables CIAL to develop as an integrated multimodal logistics gateway connecting international air and maritime trade with the manufacturing and consumption markets of Kerala and South India. CIAL continues to strengthen its cargo infrastructure, cold-chain capabilities, express and courier cargo facilities, transfer cargo operations, digital processes and specialised cargo-handling facilities to improve efficiency and support the growing logistics requirements of exporters, importers, airlines, freight forwarders and logistics partners. As a Trustee Member of TIACA, CIAL looks forward to engaging closely with the global air cargo community, developing new airline and logistics partnerships, sharing international best practices, and exploring opportunities in multimodal logistics, innovation, digitalisation and sustainability.
